Passion for Christmas 2011, "Get In The Picture"

Change your shopping trip into a Christmas Experience. This year Bolton Town Centre will see our first ever Living Nativity. The people who put on the successful re-telling of the Easter Story, the “Passion for Bolton”, are behind a new Christmas presentation to be called Passion for Christmas -“Get in the Picture”. So, while you are shopping for Christmas take some time out for fun and a photo opportunity for all ages.

Look out for the traditional stable scene, but this time with a difference. There will be actors and a narrator to tell the story of Christmas, as it happened. Members of the public, both adults and children, will be invited to dress as Mary and Joseph, shepherds, angels, innkeepers, people in the crowd, or the Three Kings. This will be your chance to “Get in the Picture”. You will not need to learn lines, nor will you need any acting skills or experience.

Behind all the razzmatazz is a story that has endured for centuries and whose message is personal to each and a reminder of the reason why many celebrate at this time of year.

The narrator will tell the story, and the actors will play out scenes, then you can have your picture taken. The photos will then be uploaded onto the “Get in the Picture” national website http://www.getinthepicture.org.uk/welcome.htm where you can download copies for your own use to send to friends and family or put on facebook for a great and fun way to remember the season.

The Stable scene is planned to be located in Crompton Place Shopping Centre on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th December and we are hoping to add in some more days in the week before Christmas.

The stable will either be in the square opposite the Town Hall, or inside one of our main shopping centres. We may even be able to have one of the donkeys who starred in the Easter Story with us as well !

Keep updated by visiting this page in  November, or look for details in the local press.

Oh, and one last thing, just like the first gift of Christmas, it’s all free.
